Bonus Episode: Tips For Traveling in Recovery
#55: Today's bonus episode kicks off a special series of snack-sized episodes for the month of June! Throughout the month, Liz and Bryce will dive deeper and share their personal tools for navigating different scenarios in sobriety. On this episode, they discuss traveling while sober or in recovery. For Liz, traveling in recovery has made an enormous difference and she had to create new tools and strategies to help her feel safe and supported on the road. As for Bryce, sobriety has offered him the privilege to travel, coming from not having as much opportunity while in active addiction. Tune into the episode to hear more stories and tips including:
- Liz's surprise when she realized how much she had associated traveling with drinking, learning how to navigate anxiety with different tools.
- Bryce's advice to allow yourself time to “center” before a trip. Prepping by packing in advance, and giving yourself ample time to get through security.
- The realization that we don't have control over other people, but we can control our own attitude, even in chaotic situations like airport security.
- Giving yourself grace while traveling. You're not alone in navigating these situations.
- A call to action: let us know what areas you are interested in discussing so we can continue these conversations about traveling and topics beyond!
