The Phoenix Sober Active Community Season 1 Episode 59

#59: On this week's episode, we heard from you, our community of listeners, via the Rise Recover Live Podcast group on The Phoenix mobile app, on what you would like discussed on this week's snack sized episode. Liz and Bryce dove right into a discussion on how to handle big feelings in sobriety. They shared some of the tools they have cultivated over the years in their personal recovery. Keep in mind, no one has a monopoly on what is right, but Liz and Bryce are here to share things they've learned that have worked for them. Listen to the episode to hear us discuss:

- The powerful healing effect of talking it out with someone you trust, or writing it out, when you feel overwhelmed or angry.
- The importance of self-compassion, which is huge for Bryce, and reminding yourself to tap into community.
- Being around folks who model the attitudes you intend to have. Seeing the people who still show up in a loving way amidst adversity and becoming their 'understudy.'
- How in early recovery, or even years in, it's ok if you need to build a little bubble around yourself. Recognize what you need in those moments and give yourself grace.
- Reframing the situation: moving from asking how can I keep people from aggravating me to, why do I keep feeling aggravated? Productive change comes from feeling discontent and questioning your reactions.
- Call to action: Tap into your Phoenix community! Let us know what topics you would like to hear about via The Phoenix mobile app.
