Oxford House: Preventing Relapse with a New Concept of Sober Living
Show Notes

#38:   Jackson Longan has been part of the Oxford House community for 15 of his 17 years sober.  Today, we hear Jackson’s story, and how an unconventional approach to sober living is changing lives.

  • Jackson shares his shock of graduating from high school with honors, only to find himself struggling with substance use and sleeping on the streets at age 19,
  • We hear about his first attempt to get sober, the health scare that led to relapse, and the community that changed his outlook on life in recovery,
  • How Oxford House is different than other sober living options- and with more than 2000 houses in operation,
  • What it means to be a “self-run, self-supported recovery house,”
  • The importance of putting ourselves first, and how that can be true alongside a life of service.
