Kaley Jones: A Leap of Faith
#26: At 19, Kaley Jones (she/her) found herself at a crossroads: one path led her to Mexico, where she could continue a life gripped by substance use disorder and dangerous circumstances; the other was the long, daunting journey toward sobriety — a journey that felt not only impossible, but one she didn't think she wanted.
Over 10 years later, Kaley now believes that choosing sobriety was the key to stepping into the fullest version of herself. Though it's been tough work, even grueling at times, she's reclaimed the life she once thought she wasn't worthy of. She's incredibly grateful she listened to her loved ones and took that leap of faith. In the episode, we dive into Kaley's story and much more:
- Her full-circle realization: Now, Kaley works with individuals the same age she was when she first got sober, showing them that recovery is possible... and she's living proof.
- Her definition of recovery as her relationships she's cultivated within a community that loves and supports her.
- The power of intervention, and the conversations she had with her family at 19.
- Kaley's first introduction to The Phoenix, and how she doubted hr ability to live a thriving life in sobriety, until she met someone wearing a "sober" shirt at a 12-step meeting.
